Maddie and Greg’s story began in 2016 in the most unlikely of places for two people that had grown up in the Midwest … Erie, PA. That summer, Greg was finishing his first rotation in the Financial Management Program for General Electric, and Maddie was beginning the program. They met at a work happy hour, ahead of Maddie starting her new job. Greg helped train Maddie, and they formed a fast friendship.

Over the course of the next few years, Greg and Maddie both moved around the country for multiple jobs at GE. But, one thing they always did, regardless of where they were living, was stay in touch. As Maddie and Greg were preparing for their permanent positions at the company, they both found themselves calling Chicago home. They continued to get to know each other, living in the same city, and clearly felt something more than just coworkers.

When Covid-19 hit, Maddie spent more time back home in Ohio, while Greg was back and forth between Chicago and Marco Island. During that long time away from one another, they both realized how much they missed each other and that it was time to take the relationship to the next level.

Over the next three years, they grew their relationship even further. They traveled to amazing places, went to concerts, spent time with great friends, and have cheered on two good (Bengals/Buckeyes) and one bad (Bears) football team. Some of their most special memories are taking trips to Ohio and visiting Barrington, each realizing just how important family is to both of them.

Then, on what may have been the warmest day of 2023 (110 degrees in Chicago!), Greg had a surprise for Maddie on the rooftop of their building. There he was on one knee asking Maddie to take the next step, in a lifetime of love and happiness together. Maddie and Greg could not be more excited to start their journey of marriage with their closest family and friends! See you in Longboat!
